On January 2016, a call for the Charlie Hebdo Portable Pavilion competition was launched by Bee Breeders architectural and design Competition organizers. One year after the Charlie Hebdo shootings, the project shades a light on the importance of freedom of speech.

Opening Doors

'When one door closes, another opens'

The architectural and poetic take for the challenge is based on the resilience and flexibility of human nature.  The structure boosts an infinite number of possible spatial arrangements, that easily responds to immediate functional, environmental and sociocultural contexts.  Inspired by the colorful cartoon illustrations of Charlie Hebdo, the facade celebrates freedom of expression in such a way that it exposes people to different perspectives and viewpoints while giving them a chance to have their say.
